Full height car doors are suited for freight
elevators authorized to carry passengers. Two section full height car
doors are used when overhead height in the hoistway is limited. A twosection
full height car door consists of two counterweighted panels of equal heights
and can be either manually or power operated.
Required overhead height, measured from
the top landing sill to the nearest overhead obstruction, for full height
two-section car doors equals 1.5 times the landing door opening height
plus 650mm (26 in). Two-section full height car doors require a 190mm
(7.5 in) car setback.
When there is insufficient overhead for
a two-section car door, use a three-section full height car door.
