Single Section Car Door/Gates

Single section car doors/gates are used when there is ample overhead height in the hoistway. Single section car doors/gates consist of a single counterweighted panel and can be either manually or power operated.

MIN. RAIL HEIGHT: OPENING HT + 1829 mm [72 in]
CAR ENCLOSURE SETBACK: 114 mm [4 1/2 in]

When there is insufficient overhead height, use a two-section car door/gate.

Single Section Full Height Car Door

Full height car doors are suited for freight elevators authorized to carry passengers. Single section full height car doors are used when there is ample overhead height in the hoistway. Single section car doors consist of a single counterweighted panel and can be either manually or power operated.

MIN. RAIL HEIGHT: 2 x OPENING HT + 356 mm [14 in]
CAR ENCLOSURE SET BACK: 165 mm [ 6 1/2 in]

When there is insufficient overhead height, use a two-section full height car door.

Two Section Car Door/Gates

Two section car doors/gates are used when overhead height in the hoistway is limited. A two-section car door/gate consists of two counterweighted panels of different heights and can be either manually or power operated.

MIN. RAIL HEIGHT: 1.5 x OPENING HT + 152 mm [6 in]
CAR ENCLOSURE SETBACK: 165 mm [6 1/2 in]

When there is insufficient overhead for a two-section car door/gate, use a differential car door/gate.

Two Section Full Height Car Door

Full height car doors are suited for freight elevators authorized to carry passengers. Two-section full height car doors are used when overhead height in the hoistway is limited. A two-section full height car door consists of two counterweighted panels of equal heights and can be either manually or power operated.

MIN. RAIL HEIGHT: 1.5 x OPENING HT + 330 mm [13 in]
CAR ENCLOSURE SET BACK: 191 mm [7 1/2 in]

When there is insufficient overhead for a two-section car door, use a three-section full height car door.

Differential Car Door/Gate

Differential car doors/gates are used when overhead is severely limited. Differential car doors/gates are 6 ft. (1830mm) high and consist of two equal height counteweighted panels and can be either manually or power operated.
